Tomb of Mr Tan Tock Seng
Nested on a small hill that overlooks the Outram Road is the final resting place of one of Singapore’s early pioneer, Mr Tan Tock Seng.
Mr Tan is best remembered as a philanthropist who donated towards the construction of a hospital for poor, now known as the Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also an influential Chinese leader and was the first Asian to be made a Justice of the Peace by the Governor. Mr Tan Tock Seng was known for his generosity and gave widely to other charitable causes.
The Tan was originally buried in another location before the he was moved to the current location. Mr Tan’s daughter in law and grand daughter-in-law were also buried at this family burial plot.
